F/A Roles In A Fire

Answer 1

Communicator, Firefighter, Runner

Communicator:
Notifies FD & remains on the interphone
Relays information (Type of fire, size, location, whats being done)
Makes announcement “Remain seated, fasten seatbelts, stay low and breath through your clothes”

Firefighter:
Obtain halon extinguisher
Don PBE
Fight the fire

Runner:
Bring additional equipment, move O2 bottles away & assist with fighting the fire
Keep PAX away from the area & distribute wet towels

Combustibles: Wood, clothing & paper
Flammable Liquids: Jet fule, grease, oil
Electrical: IFE, coffee makers, ovens

Question 3

Smoke in the Cabin

Answer 3

SNAP (Source, Notify, Announce, Pass, Fire Fighting)

Immediately locate the source of the smoke
Notify FD & stand by for instructions

Announce to PAX “Remain seated, fasten seatbelts, stay low, breath through your clothes”

Pass out wet towels if time permits

Gather fire fighting materials

Evacuating Smoke Filled Cabins

OH Fuck And Shit! (Operate, Head, FLS, Aim, Shout)

Operate exit
Keep head low
FLS at knee level and aim down aisle toward PAX
Shout “Come this way, stay low, follow the light, breathe through your clothes”

Shop 4 LPs in FR

Signs (SHOP)

Smoke, hotspots, odor, & popped circuit breakers

Procedures (LP FR= Locate, Pry, Fight, Remove)
Located the source
Pry apart or punch a hole in panels using any rigid item

Fight the fire

Remove surrounding panel to ensure that the fire has not spread and cannot be used for fuel

LAV Fire Procedures

Answer 6

Notify FD which Lav is activated and gather firefighting equipment

Feel for heat using back of hand.

If unoccupied & door is cool/ warm: crack open door, throughly check area for fire & fight fire

If hot: puncture hole in door, discharge halon through hole, once cool crack open door & continue to fight fire

If occupied: ask PAX to step out, throughly check are and fight fire if necessary

Question 7

Oven Fire

Answer 7

Notify FD & gather firefighting equipment

If open, close oven door

Turn power off & pull out circuit breakers

If necessary: crack door open & fight the fire
