What is the therapeutic use?
reduction of the incidence of infection and reduction in time to neutrophil recovery with myelosuppressive chemotherapy, leukemia, bone marrow transplants.
What is the action?
increases the production of neutrophils in the bone marrow
What are the contraindications?
pregnancy, lactation, renal or hepatic disease
What are the adverse effects?
headache, fatigue, alopecia, rash, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomatitis, anorexia, bone pain, couhg, and generalized pain
What are the drug to drug interactions?
lithium and corticosteroids
What routes can we use to administer?
IV and subq
What would you instruct the patient with when taking this med?
take medicine as prescribed and correct techniques to prepare and inject the medication, avoid pregnancy, and report adverse effects.
