- How many ways are there to set the SORT ORDER for a PORTAL? Keep in mind that a PORTAL works through a RELATIONSHIP.

b. You can also set the SORT ORDER when creating the PORTAL.
- what is the behavior of the SORT ORDER when you set it in the EDIT RELATIONSHIP dialog box?

IT APPLIES ONLY TO THE PORTAL ITSELF.

FileMaker uses the RELATIONSHIP’S SORT ORDER, if any.
- If you know that every time you look at your RELATED DATA it SHOULD BE SHOWN IN A SPECIFIC ORDER, then set the SORT ORDER by the:
RELATIONSHIP.
- If you think the RELATED DATA should be SORTED DIFFERENT WAYS IN DIFFERENT CONTEXTS (and thus in different PORTALS), then the SORT ORDER should be set by:
The PORTAL SET UP dialog box. When you’re planning on VIEWING DATA IN LOTS OF DIFFERENT ORDERS, rely in SORTED PORTALS instead of SORTED RELATIONSHIPS.
