A
  1. Ovarian Ligament
    - anchors ovary to uterus
    - no vascular structures
  2. Suspenary Ligament
    - anchor ovary to lateral wall of pelvis
    - NAVL
    - Ovarian Artery & Vein
    - Lt ovarian v. drain into Lt renal vein
  3. Broad Ligament
    - peritoneal fold over the Uterus
    - NAVL pathway

Q

Describe all the ovarian follicles

A
  1. Primordial Follicle
    - born w/ all primordial follicles your going to have
    - Primary Oocyte
    - Follicular cells
    (simple squamous cells)

–> Increase FSH
(small amt LH too)

  1. Primary Follicle
    - triggered by FSH
    - Primary Oocyte
    - Granulosa Cells
    (cubiodal cells w/ glandular function)
    –> Estrogen
    –> Progesterone
    (after ovulation)
  2. Secondary Follicle
    - Primary Oocyte
    - Granulosa cells produce more estrogen
    - produce follicular fluid pockets
  3. Graafian (Mature) Cell
    - Secondary Oocyte
    - Antrum of follicular fluid
    - Estrogen reach HIGHEST level

Q

What happens on day 14 ?

A

Mature follicle ruptures & eject secondary Oocyte

-> corpus hemorrhagic
-> corpus luteum
- LH increase, progesterone high & estrogen low

-> corpus albican
- progesterone makes a neg feeback on LH qhich causes death or corpus luteum leaving a scar
