Lining - arranged in rugged kept moist by cervical secretions
Muscle - weaker inner circular fibres and stronger outer longitudinal fibres
Pelvic fascia - connective tissue surrounding vagina
What are the layers of the uterus
Peritoneum - draped over the uterus and uterine tubes
Myometrium - inner - circular fibres abound cornea and cervix
Middle - interlacing spiral fibres upper part of body
Outer - longitudinal fibres
Endometrium - functional layer which thickened and is shed deduping the menstrual cycle

Internal os - narrow opening between isthmus and cervix
External s- small round opening of lower end of cervix

Allow site for fertilisation
Ovaries function
Produce oocytes and oestrogen and progesterone
Have medulla and cortex
