Feedback Flashcards
Identify the four types of feedback
Intrinsic,Extrinsic,Concurrent,Terminal
What is intrinsic feedback
It comes from within, relates to how a movement feels which is known as kinesthetic feel.
What is extrinsic feedback?
Comes from a coach
What is concurrent feedback?
Takes place during the performance and can be intrinsic or extrinsic.
What is terminal feedback?
Is received after the performance.
Advantages and disadvantages and an example of intrinsic feedback
Inexperienced performers can’t use this as they don’t have a developed knowledge of how a skill should feel.
It would be good for experienced performers as they will know if a movement is correct or incorrect.
Could be used in trampolining to know if a flip or movement was correct.
Advantages and disadvantages of extrinsic feedback and example
It can be relayed in the form of visual or verbal guidance as the coach replays what is right or wrong.
Less experienced performers need this feedback to know how they did and to motivate and encourage.
An example could be a football team reaching games to assess tactics, structure and formations.
Advantages and disadvantages and an example of concurrent feedback.
If the activity lasts a long time, adjustments can be made during the game or performance and the coach could instruct what’s been performed correctly or incorrectly.
The coach could tamper with a routine which is correct if inexperienced.
This could be used in football, netball and gymnastics.
Advantages and disadvantages and an example of terminal feedback.
A coach could talk through what they saw or so the performer could watch a replay
However, it is after the game which means the advice can’t impact the previous game and has to wait till the next performance.
This could be used in football, rugby and dance routines.
