Tonic-clonic seizure due to rapid increase in temp
Not due to CNS infections
Not in a child < 6 months

<15 minutes
Generalised - 4 limbs
Recurs in 24 hours or same illness
> 15 minutes or is focal
Signs of underlying infection
Management
What percentage recur?
How to manage if at home? - 5
What meds can be given?
When should an ambulance be called?
30% will happen again especially if younger
Unwrap Turn heat down Don't make them cold Recovery position Remove dummy from mouth
Paracetamol/ibuprofen
> 5 minutes
Complications - 2
30% recur
Increased risk of epilepsy later on in life
