What does the T stand for?
Theory construction- to explain facts and enable testable predictions
What does the H stand for?
Hypotheses- these are tested to assess validity
What does the E stand for?
Empirical methods- used to gain evidence through direct observation or testing rather than arguments
What does the P stand for?
Paradigms- a paradigm shift is when a scientific process occurs through revolutions and social constructions rather than fine tuning
What does the R stand for?
Replicability- studies should be replicable so findings can be verified
What does the O stand for?
Objectivity- science should be objective so it is not affected by personal expectations
What does the F stand for?
Falsifiability- this relates to seeking to disconfirm a null hypothesis in order to demonstrate that the alternative is correct
