Participants should be given comprehensive information concerning the nature and purpose of the research and their role in it

The communication of personal information from one person to another and the trust that this will be protected

A persons right to control the flow of information about themselves

Ask participants to sign a document

It should be approved by the ethics committee then a full debrief given to the participants at the end of the study

Participants should be informed of their rights at the beginning of the study

Avoid anything riskier than everyday experiences

Use numbers, initials or false names to represent participants

Do not study individuals without informed consent unless in a public place
