factorial validity Flashcards
what is factorial validity?
is relevant to determining whether the scores of a measure correspond to the number and nature of dimensions of theorised dimensions that underlie the construct of interest
what does factor analysis do?
helps to determine the number and nature of dimensions associated with the scores derived from a test
what does factorial validity pertian to?
the internal structure of test scores which is the way the parts of a test are related to eachother
what are the three things factor analysis does?
- clarify number of factors
- determine the nature of associations
- determine which items are linked to which ffactor
what is a unidimensional test?
consists of items which all measure one factor
what is a multidimensional uncorrelated test?
items which measure two or more dimensions that arent related to eachother
what is multi correlated?
two or more that are correlated with eachother
what are the three different types of test?
unidimensional, multi dimensional uncorrelated, multi correlated
for unidimensional tests, what does FA do?
can estimate the degree to which each indicator is linked to the attribute
what does test dimensionality have implications for?
scoring, evaluation and test scores
what is the psychological meaning of dimensions and how is it found?
accomplished by evaluating which items load onto each respective dimensions and done through CA or FA
