convergent validity Flashcards
what is convergent validity?
reflects the degree to which test scores have the correct patterns of associations with other variables
what does convergent validity suggest?
the observation of a significant correlation between a tests scores and another variable
what is incremental predictive validity?
pertains to the validity associated with test scores, above and beyond the scores from one or more existing tests
what is bivariate regression?
same as correlation
how is multiple regression different from bivariate?
two or more predictors
in a multiple regression, each predictor variable is associated with what?
a beta weight
what do beta weights represent in a multiple regression?
unique effects
why are they called unique effects?
they represent the predictive capacity of the predictor variable, above and beyond the other predictor variables
what does multiple regression evaluate?
the incremental predictive validity associate with the test
what does a semi partial correlation represent?
the association between X1 and Y1 controlling for the effects of X2 on X1
what does phi-max represent?
the maximum possible correlation between two dichotomously scored items
what is consensual validity?
implies a consensus between tests designed to measure the same construct, but from two or more different perspectives
whats an application of consensual validity?
to estimate the association between self reported scores and rater reported
