What leave do you take when you run out of FACS leave
After exhausting FACS leave you can use you own sick leave
Known as sick leave to care for a family member or personal carers leave and comes off your own sick leave

Does full time leave without pay effect accrual of FACS
No, but it will be be effect by part time and the amount of hours worked.
How is the part time officers FACS Leave calculated
On number of hours worked
Eg: officer works 3 9 hour shifts
38hrs x27/38 = 27hrs over a two years period.
What should an officer do to claim previous NSW public service FACS leave
Seek report from old employer confirming available FACS leave and leave take and forward to payroll services for up load onto SAP.
What can be done if an officer has exhausted FACS leave
Up to 38 hrs of unpaid FACS leave can be granted for any 12 month period.
Unpaid FACS leave hrs must be reduced by the amount of any paid FACS leave taken in the 12 months. What tha????????
What leave is deducted for personal cares leave?
Initially from this years sick leave, if needed the previous 3 years.
What if the last 3 years sick leave is insufficient for personal carers leave
In special circumstances commander can authorise sick leave be used from previous years of service.
Eg: provide care on a regular basis over an extended period for family member with chronic illness. Does not include full time care.
What are the examples of FACS leave
Compassionate grounds - death or illness of close family member
Accommodation ( 1day) - moving/ court as defendant/ eviction
Emergency/ weather - flood, fire, snow
Other personal circumstances - parent teacher interview /citizenship ceremonies
What is normally the maximum days of FACS leave you can take at once.

If your on annual or extended leave can you claim FACS leave?
No. Can not be reaccredited.
Can you take FACS leave to attend court to answer a criminal charge
No, not unless given special permission from the commissioner
How may hours FACS leave is taken if you need to leave during a shift.
Only the hours remaining to the end of the shift.
Eg: 4 hours left the in the shift when you leave, 4 hrs FACS leave taken.
If an officers relative dies can they take FACS leave to attend the funeral.
Only if it is the spouse, parent or child of the officers
When can you Authorise 3-5 days FACS leave
On the death of an officers spouse, child or parents
If they have to organise the funeral
If they have to travel some distance to the funeral.
If you have to move can you take FACS leave
Only if it is very short notice, if it has been known for some time it should happen on a non work day.
When can you take FACS leave for emergency or weather.
Should be granted FACS leave for the period of the emergency.
This includes emergency related school closures.
Can you use FACS leave for volunteer services such as SES, RFS.
No, this should be taken as special leave.
Can FACS leave be taken for death or injury of a pet.
No, should never be taken for this.
What happens when ALL FACS leave has been exhausted.
The officer can use other leave
Annual, time off in lieu, etc
How do you qualify for personal carers leave
Must be responsible for the care and support if the family member (household)
Must be an unexpected emergency.
