Community Engagement Flashcards
What is community engagement about
Community engagement is about consultation, participation and communication – police talking with and seeking the views of the communities we serve, and working with them as we develop responses and strategies to solve crime, reduce violence and fear and improve local safety.
What is the NSWP commitment to the public relating to community engagement
The NSW Police Force commitments to our customers are that we will: • be accessible • be professional and helpful • take appropriate action • keep people informed.
How many formal community engagement days should there be
Formal community engagements should occur at least five times a year with results recorded and reported to COMPASS (Command Performance Accountability System). In addition, there can be less formal engagements that are quick and easy; take only a few hours to carry out, but produce invaluable results.
What should the lac do to build effective relationships
To establish effective relationships with the people in their area, Commanders and their staff must: • know and understand their community • listen to what people are saying • take relevant action • resolve issues • provide feedback.
