What are care labels?
A care label includes instructions for washing, drying, ironing, dry cleaning , bleaching
What does the bar symbol (line underneath sign for washing) mean.
- give the three and what they mean
- it shows the washing action needed to be done
- no bar = maxi wash and spin
- single bar = medium wash and short spin
- broken bar = minimum wash ( used for wool)
Look in hardback for instruction symbols ( not too important)

Detergents are a substance that removes dirt

What does biological detergents contain?
Enzymes with break down protein stains

- squeeze garments instead of rub

Substances that makes fabric softer
Name the method of removing the following stains Stain: - chewing gum - tea - blood/ gravy - grass/ ink - chocolate - grease
Stain:
- chewing gum: freeze and scrape off
- tea: soak in warm water w/ biological detergents
- blood/ gravy: soak in cold water
- grass/ ink: soak area in methylated spirit
- chocolate: wash in hot water. Dab glycerine
- grease: wash in hot water and detergent

Removes unwanted colours
