is a flexible structure that focuses light.
Lens:
the layer of receptor cells that lines the back of the eye. Contains about 130 million receptor cells that respond to light.
Retina:
people that can see nearby objects clearly, but have trouble seeing objects far away.
Nearsightedness:
people that can see distant objects, but nearby objects look blurry.
Farsightedness:
is a membrane that vibrates when sound strikes it. It separates the outer ear from the middle ear.
Eardrum:
it is a snail-shaped tube that is lined with receptor cells that respond to sound.
Cochlea:
structures above the cochlea that are responsible for your sense of balance.
Semicircular canal:
any chemical taken into the body that causes changes in a person’s body or behavior.
Drug:
deliberate misuse of drugs for purposes other than medical ones.
Drug abuse:
a state in which a drug user needs larger and larger amounts of the drug to produce the same effect on the body.
Tolerance:
It is when the body becomes physically dependent on the drug.
Addiction:
a period of adjustment that occurs when a person stops taking a drug on which the body is dependent.
