-Decline in heavy industry e.g mining and engineering
-Due to globalisation industries have been relocated to developing countries
-WC boys have a lack of motivation
What is the AO2 of Globalisation?
-The decline of male employment opportunities has lead to a crisis of masculinity
-so boys believe they have less of a chance of getting a proper jobs which lowers there self esteem and lack of motivation so give up on school

The decline has only been on traditional manual jobs which are unskilled
-they would usually be filled with WC boys who have few to any qualifications
What is the AO1 for unrealistic aspirations?
When boys fail a exam they put it on bad luck and not due to there lack of effort
What is the AO2 for unrealistic aspirations?
-Boys not only have unrealistic aspirations but also ones that require few qualifications E.G footballer
-Girls aspirations tend to require academic effort E.G doctors
>so they would have commitment towards schoolwork
