A
3 vertical columns, iliocostalis, longissimus, spinalis
extension of the trunk, control of flexion, maintainence of lumbar lordosis, lateral flexion

Semispinalis
A
O: TP of T6-T10
I: lower cervical/ upper thoracic spinous process
semispinalis captis- medial area between the superior and infieorr nuchal lines of the occipital bone
A: bilateral- extension CS and TS
unilateral- may assist in rotation

Multifidus
A
O: posterior sacrum, PSIS, mamillary process of lumbar vertebrae, dorsal sacro iliac ligaments
I: spinous process above dependent on layer.

superficial- 3 or 4 above
