Q

Yerkes & Dodson 1908

A

when arousal is too high the person cannot attend to the situation and therefore learning the environment is safe does not occur

  • thus the arousal should be enough to trigger anxiety but little enough to ensure the person can remain present and learn about the situation and their response

A

  • measure them at different points throughout the process, quantifies the experience allowing for half the anxiety to decrease- hopefully before the exposure ends
