Q
Explain the three main components or phases of movement and apply them to a skill of your choice.
A
The three phases of movement are:
-
Preparatory Phase
This is when you get ready to move. You position your body and build energy.
- Example (Soccer Kick): You step back, place your non-kicking foot by the ball, and swing your kicking leg back.
-
Execution Phase
This is when you do the actual movement.
- Example (Soccer Kick): You swing your leg forward and hit the ball.
-
Follow-Through Phase
This is what happens after the movement to finish it smoothly.
- Example (Soccer Kick): Your kicking leg continues forward, and your body balances to stop or reset.
