Define A priori
Something knowable without reference to sense experience
Define the Ontological Argument
An argument for the existence of God from his definition, an argument that is not dependant on sense experience
Define Contradiction
Contradictory to use two ideas together when one makes the other impossible. e.g Circles are square
Define Predicate
A grammatical term which refers to the description of a concept. e.g ‘Her dress is red’, the ‘is red’ is the predicate
What is a Defining Predicate?
A description that is necessary to the concept. e.g ‘A square has 4 sides’, ‘has 4 sides’ is necessary to the concept of a square
What is the Principle of non-contradiction?
States that contradictory propositions cannot both be true in the same sense at the same time
