A
Removal of metabolic wastes from the body
Kidney, liver, lungs, large intestine, and skin

- Excretes perspiration; cools body; increase waste during renal failure
- breaks down red blood cell; excretion of bile pigments
- Expiration removes carbon dioxide (loss of water too)

- Certain salts (like from iron and calcium) excreted directly into intestine become part of feces
- excrete urine; contains end products of metabolism

Renal Cortex - outer granulated region
Renal medulla - Striated or layer lined
Renal Pelvis - inner cavity; where urine collects

A
Kidney is composed of over 1 million nephron
Outer region has - bowman’s capsule, PCT, and DCT
Inner region has - Loop of henule

Artery - brings blood to kidney to be cleaned
vein - brings cleaned blood back to body
