Excretory Sytem Flashcards
What is excretion
The process by which waste materials are removed from cells
Why is build up of waste dangerous
Since tissues filled with waste cannot absorb food. Or oxygen
If not emptied, this can cause fever, coma, or death.
How is waste released
Each cell releases its waste material into the blood stream
Blood carries waste two extratory organs( kidney)where they are removed and excreted
Why is excess salt bad
Too much salt makes intercellier space jaw water from surrounding cells, causing dehydration
What is the kidney
A bean shaped organ the size of a fist
Each kidney has about 1.25 million tiny filters. Call neffrons which remove waste from the blood
How is waste move
The first phase is filtration and blood vessels, which are next to neffron force water, salts, urea minerals, and some new nutrients into a collecting tube. (Bowman capsule)
Second phase is reabsorption.
95% of the water is reasorbed along with the necessary amount of salt, minerals, and nutrients.
Access materials are left in the turbulent and are moved through the ureter to bladder
What is urine
Excess urea, water, and salts
That accumulate in the bladder
The process of the Neffron
Waste comes in through an artery an into the glomerulus.
Filter is pushed into the Bowman capsule and go down the turbulent.
Around the loop of Henle while capillaries re Absorbed useful materials.
Then go to ureter
