Biliary stasis:
Delayed emptying of gallbladder
Bilirubin:
Yellow colored compound derived from breakdown of aged RBCs
Borborygmi:
High pitched bowel sounds usually associated with cramping
Cullen’s sign:
Bluish discoloration around umbilicus r/t blood in peritoneal cavity
Grey’s Turner sign:
Reddish brown discoloration at flanks, from blood in retroperitoneal cavity
Dyspepsia:
Acid indigestion or heartburn
Dysphagia:
Difficulty with swallowing
Enterohepatic circulation:
Movement of bile acids to the liver from the ileum
Fecal impaction:
Stool cannot be passed
Gastroparesis:
Slowed gastric emptying
Hematemesis:
Emesis with bright red streaks or dark coffee ground in appearance
