Must be calm, not become defensive and validate feelings of the patient

SLP must encourage and refer to a medical professional if clinical depression is suspected

What should an SLP do if someone is in the acceptance stage?
SLP must set appropriate goals and make a plan to achieve those goals while keeping in mind the patient’s quality of life
