A
- proved to help patients who suffer from recurrent depression from relapse
- Teasdale et al evaluated MCBT and found that helped those who suffered the most number of previous episodes
- substantially reduced risk of relapse for those with 3 or more episodes

A
- developed for general use in hospitals for those with chronic or painful (kabat zinn)
- Reibel et al reported that MBSR decreased levels of anxiety and depression in 136 patients
- results seen after 1 year follow up

GROUP VS INDIVIDUAL MINDFULNESS
A
- evidence to suggest that group mindfulness is more effecting got certain psych problems
- Mantzios and Giannou found that those in a group setting lost more weight and individual mindfulness needs to be viewed with caution

ETHICS
A
- positive approach: doesn’t drag up the past to offer an explanation therefore anxiety is avoided
- lack of determinist stance is extremely positive
- accepts process of thinking so is less frustrating stops feelings of guilt
- maintains morality: Reudy and Schweitzer found those high in mindfulness were less likely to cheat on a task and uphold ethical standards
