A
- as homework clients are asked to keep record of the events leading up to any unpleasant emotions experienced
- should record the automatic negative thoughts associated and rate how much they believe in then from 1-100%
- then rate their belief rationally
- then re-rate them in their automatic response

COGNITIVE RESTRUCTURING
A
- once the client has revealed more about their thought pattern to the therapist they can work on changing negative thinking patterns known as therapy during therapy
- client may feel distressed about something they overheard assuming the person was talking about them therapist asks them to challenge this with logic and replacing them with more constructive thoughts

PLEASANT ACTIVITY SCHEDULING
A
- involves client to plan each day a pleasant activity they can engage in each day
- can be something that gives them a sense of accomplishment or a break from normal routine
- engaging in these pleasant activities will induce more positive emotion and focus on new things will detract them from negative thoughts
- behavioural activation - helping clients change their behaviour
- clients note the experience and how they felt and if it didn’t go as planned asked to explore what can be done to change it
- by taking action to make things more positive takes client away from maladaptive behaviour
