high achieving black pupils rejected teacher stereotypes. didnt look for teacher validation but had a high value on education.

not seeking for teachers help disadvantaged black girls.

what was wright’s findings?
pupils were treated differently in primary schools. teachers used simple language with them and assumed that they speak poor english. got angered when they said names wrong.

swell. black boys responses to teachers racist labelling.
what are the 4 subcultures?
- conformists. are keen to succeed.
-innovators. pro education, anti school.
-retreatists. disconnected from school.
-rebels. rejected school values and conformed to be a stereotypical ‘black’
