What is anonymity?
Participants have the right to remain anonymous even after results are published
What is confidentiality?
Participants’ information should remain private so no results can be traced back to them
What is debriefing?
When a study ends, participants must be told the true aim of an investigation
What is deception?
Participants shouldn’t be misled to the true aim of an investigation unless absolutely necessary
What is informed consent?
Participants must be briefed on objectives of an investigation and fully consent before taking part
What is presumptive content?
Asking a group of people from the same target if they would consent to the study
What is privacy?
Ability of an individual or group to keep their personal information out of public view
What is protection from harm?
It must be ensured that participants are not caused long term physical or mental damage as a result of the study
What is right to withdraw?
Participants may withdraw at any time, even if they are being paid for the experiment, and all data must be destroyed

What is competent?
Researchers shouldn’t make judgements about participants unless they are qualified to do so
