Ethics
Standards that are set to guide individuals to identify principled, desirable, and acceptable behaviour.
Ethical standards
Helps us make judgements about which behaviours are appropriate and which aren’t.
Beneficience
Makes sure to maximize the benefits while reducing the uncomfortable pain for the people involved in the research.
Non-maleficence
Assures that the participant(s) will not be harmed in any manner.
Integrity
Is commited to the research and will approach it with honesty.
Justice
Fair distribution of benefits and burdens, fair selection and that there is no discrimination ahainst anyone involved in research.
Respect
Will regard the participants and researchers as people, not as subjects.
Participants rights
Standard ethical rules that will assure the safety and peace of mind of anyone who is involved in research.
Voluntary participation rights
Assures that they will not be forced to participate.
Informed consent procedure rights
Assures that anything they say or do will be recorded or written down only with their affirmation.
Withdrawal Rights
Assures that they can pull out at anytime.
Confidentiality rights
Assures privacy, results that will not be released without consent, and the right not to be identified.
Debriefing rights
Assures that they will be informed of the true nature (purpose) of the experiment and the potential harm that it can cause.
Deception rights
Assuring that they will not be decieved to avoid biased results.
Research question
A question that summarises the purpose of an experiment.
