What is a lack of informed consent
Participants should agree to take part knowing the exact aims and practices of the study.
What is a lack of protection from harm
Research should be no more distressing than the everyday world, this can be physical or psychological harm.
What is deception
When psychologists mislead participants and lie about the true aims of the study.
What is a lack of confidentiality
Participants have the right to control information about themselves.
What is a debrief
At the end of the study explain the study aims and details, reassurance that their behaviour is normal, and offer counseling.

PPTs are allowed to leave the study at any point without penalty.

PPTs are referred to by number to protect their data, information can be removed and is kept confidential.
