how to prevent issues with valid consent?

A

participants asked to formally indicate their agreement to participate (sign a document) However, this could lead them to the purpose of the research which could lower validity of the results. Also if full consent is given it doesn’t guarantee participants fully understand what is involved

Q

how to prevent deception?

A

need to weigh up the benefits of the study against the cost if you’re going to deceive the participants. Participants should be fully debriefed after the study and the true nature revealed. However, debriefing doesn’t turn the clocks back and participants may still feel affected by the research.
