irritation from chronic GERD. 25% of cases are unrelated. E.g. radiation, sclero therapy, or caustic ingestions, or eosinophilic esophagitis q

signs and SX of stricture?
A
heartburn, substernal chest pain, dysphagia is a cardinal feature

RAD for strictures:
A
endoscopy
barium study

treatment for esophageal strictures:
A
mild-treat for GERD or causative factor
Severe- MEDEVAC for potential injury
Refer all patients to Gastroenterology for dilation and evalutation.

A
mallory weiss tear
asphyxiation
esophageal paresis
