Pathogenesis

A

EBV enters body, enters B-Cell via CD21 receptor though complement CD3, Latent there, travel throughout the lymph nodes and causes lymphadenopathy regionally and generalized.
EBV damages epithelial cells of Pharynx > Pharyngitis and enters lymphoid causes inflammation aka tonsillitis.
In spleen, CD8+ Cytotoxic cells will cause Reactive Lymphocytosis, Atypical cells AKA Downy cells.

.Causes SplenoMEGALY.
