EOP Tech Specs Flashcards
1
Q
What technical specification governs the operation of primary coolant pumps and specifically not operating P-50A and P-50B when PCS is less than 300F?
A
T.S. 3.4.6 PCS Loops - MODE 4
Two loops or trains consisting of any combination of PCS loops and Shutdown Cooling (SDC) trains shall be OPERABLE, and either:
- One PCS loop shall be in operation; or
- One SDC train shall be in operation with ≥ 2810 gpm flow through the reactor core.
Note 3: Primary coolant pumps P-50A and P-50B shall not be operated simultaneously.

Q
What technical specification governs the heatup and cooldown rates of the PCS?
A
T.S. 3.4.3 PCS Pressure and Temperature (P/T) Limits
PCS pressure, PCS temperature, and PCS heatup and cooldown rates
shall be maintained within the limits of Figure 3.4.3-1 and Figure 3.4.3-2.
At all times.
Heat Up
- Less than 170F - 20F/Hr
- 170F to 250 F - 40F/Hr
- >250 to <350F - 60F/Hr; if not on shutdown cooling. 40F/Hr if on SDC
- 350F or greater - 100F/Hr
Cooldown
- Head on: 3-hour soak at 110-135F, then 20F/Hr after
- Less than 170F - 40F/Hr
- 170F to 250 F - 40F/Hr
- >250 to <350F - 60F/Hr
