Characterized by one-way communication aimed at a recipient
e.g. press releases, popular science lectures

Invites al parties to play a role as both sender and receiver. Both researchers and the public can speak and take an active interest in each other’s views

Dialogue
Gives all parties the opportunity not only to express their views. but also to be involved in, particiape in and thereby influence the research process

Also known as science engagement
is a two-way process, involving interaction and listening, with goal of generating mutual benefit
Public engagement
common feature of co-creation, where the public is directly involved in research and innovation processes, often helping researchers to collect and review large amounts of data

the teaching and learning of science; can take many forms and involve different levels of interactivity
the term is used to emphasize the aim: to increase knowledge of science or research amount pupils, students, or the public
