Vestibular schwannoma symptoms
Vertigo/imbalance
Hearing loss (sensorineural)
Tinnitus
Absent corneal reflex
Meniere’s disease symptoms
Vertigo
Tinnitus (roaring sensation)
Sensorineural hearing loss
Symptoms lasting 20mins to several hours
Excess endolymph in the inner ear
Vestibular neuritis
Following viral infection
Vertigo lasting days
Associated N&V
BPPV
Brief episodes of mild to intense dizziness triggered by changes in position of head
Cystic hygroma
Congenital lesion (lymphangioma)
Typically on left side of neck
Usually appears before 2yo
Branchial cyst
Failure of obliteration of second branchial cleft in embryonic development
Oval, mobile, cystic mass between sternocleidomastoid and pharynx
Usually presents in early adulthood
Nasal septal haematoma management
Require surgical drainage and IV abx
If untreated may have septal necrosis
Otosclerosis
Conductive hearing loss
Tinnitus
Positive family history
May have ‘flamingo tinge’ to tympanic membrane
