An internal conflict is shown when Michael is thinking of ways to explain his excuse for his absence to Mrs. Dietrich and he wants to say that it’s true, that he was unhappy and unable to attend school, but he knows admitting this will make himself even more unhappy. To avoid that he lies and says he’s been doing homework.
Explain whether you liked the novel or not & why
I did not like this novel because there was no concrete plot. The main character, Michael, was static and stayed sad throughout the story and there was no change of mood; too depressing and anticlimactic.
