Engines and APU Flashcards
When would you use “rich” when starting a RR engine?
When ITT reads 0°
On an RR Engine is N2 protected?
NO, it just spins as a result of N1 and N3, it is indirectly protected though them
RR Engine EEC Controls
- EPR-
- N1-
EPR- “Supervisory”
N1- “Limiting”
How are the RR engine EECs powered?
Dual dedicated generators which are really one generator with dual channels
RR Engines- If you lose both channels that power the EECs how do you control the engines?
You revert to hydro-mechanical N3 fuel control
How are the EECs powered on the P&W Engines?
Dedicated PMAs
Is there a mechanical backup to FADEC on the P&W Engine?
No
If both FADEC Channels fail what will the engine do?
Go to min flow FOR THAT ALTITUDE
**If you descend, the engine my shut down b/c of fuel flow
Which is the primary FADEC channel on the 763?
A or B
Neither, it swaps on each start
What powers the EECs on the GE Engines?
Permanent Magnet Generator
IF both FADEC Channels fail on the GE Engine what happens?
A controlled engine shut down
How do we know when engine indicators are coming from the Thrust Management Computer?
It will be displayed in Green
EECs vs ELCs
Which is a bigger deal and what do they do
EEC is a bigger deal- controls and monitors more things
ELC is a protection and a limit
RR Engine
EEC what does it control and is it protection or limit?
EPR and is a PROTECTION -is supervisory
RR Engine
ELC what does it control and is it protection or limit?
N1 and is over speed LIMIT- plays a limiter role
