Q

What is Kinetic energy?

A

The energy of movement. Anything that moves has Kinetic energy. e.g. Jimmy running

Q

What is sound energy?

A

The energy that air has when it is vibrating. Your ears and brain interpret the vibrating as sound. e.g. Jimmy playing the guitar

Q

What is Light energy?

A

The kind of kinetic energy with the ability to make types of light visible to human eyes. It can be radiated from objects such as the sun.

Q

What is Heat energy?

A

The energy that usually comes from the Sun, flames, chemical reactions, electrical devices or humans and animals. Heat warms/dries/melts.

the kinetic energy of vibrating and colliding atoms in a substance.

Q

What is Electrical energy?

A

The energy produced by the movement of electric charge. This energy comes from power stations, batteries or lightning that powers TV’s and computers. Electrons moving (Negative Charge)

Q

What is elastic potential energy?

A

Energy stored in a stretched or squashed spring. The energy is released when you let go of the tension.

Q

What is Gravitational potential energy?

A

Energy stored by an object above ground. e.g. A banana on a string.

Q

What is chemical energy?

A

Energy stored in substances. For example, this energy is released by your body when you digest food. Wood, paper, apples, petrol and batteries also contain this energy.

Q

What is nuclear energy?

A

A form of energy released from the nucleus, the core of atoms, made up of protons and neutrons.

Q

What is energy transfer?

A

Energy passing from one object to the other. For example; when you kick a ball, kinetic energy from your foot is transferred to the ball causing the ball to move.

15
Q

What is conduction?

A

Conduction happens between two objects that are in contact. Heat transfers from the hotter object into the cooler one until they are both the same temperature. For example touching a hot tripod.

16
Q

What is convection?

A

Convection is what makes heat rise, a process by which heat is transferred by movement of a heated liquid.

17
Q

What is radiation?

A

Radiation is when heat radiates from hot objects (In waves). However, it can be easily blocked.

18
Q

What is the law of conservation energy?

A

It states that energy can never be created or destroyed. It can only be transferred from one form to another.
