Extend both arms down and to the sides, extend their legs & sometimes arch back
Indicates lower-level brain stem injury

Trauma (Define)
Physical Injury or wound caused by external force or violence
Most Common cause of Cardiac Arrest in infant/child

Caused by high fever
Most Common in children between 6 months & 6 years of age
Aura
Serves as a warning that a seizure is going to happen
May be sound, abnormal twitch, anxiety, dizziness

OPQRST
Onset: when/how did symptom begin?
Provocation: what makes the symptom worse/better?
Quality: how would you describe the pain?
Radiation: where do you feel the pain? Does it move anywhere?
Severity: how bad is the symptom
Time: how long have you had the symptom?
Mediastinum
Hollow area located between the lungs
Houses the trachea, vena cava, Aorta, esophagus & heart
Concussion
Mild diffuse axonal injury which involves stretching, tearing & shearing of brain tissue
Causes same disturbance in brain function ranging from momentary concussion to brief loss of responsiveness
S/S:
Confusion Restlessness
Inability to remember what happened
Inability to obey commands
Capillary Bleeding
Slowly oozing blood that is dark or intermediate color of red
Bleeding controlled fairly easily
Venous Bleeding
Dark Red, steady flow of blood
Easier to contain because lower pressure
Lacerations
Break in the skin of varying depth (cuts)
Linear (regular)/ Stellate (irregular)
