- last longer
- cognitive in nature

- in general : positive moods are more common
- individuals experience of emotions appears to be culturally shaped

- perceive emotions in the self and others
- understand the meaning of these emotions
- regulate ones emotions accordingly
(conscientiousness, cognitive ability, emotional stability)
Emotions and ethics
Emotions, ethics and groups -issues
- allows to justify emotional reactions as ‘ethical’
- judging outgroup members more harshly
- glorify ingroup members
What affects our emotions ?
Personality, time of day/day of week, weather ( illusory correlation), stress, social activity, sleep, exercise, age, gender
