Weight Energy Tube diameter Fluid bolus Adrenaline Glucose
How do you calculate weight in child age less than 1?
Weight (0-12 months) = (0.5 x age in months) + 4
How do you calculate weight in child age 1-5 years old?
Weight (1-5 years) = (2 x age in years) + 8
How do you calculate weight in a child aged 6-12 years old?
Weight (6-12 years) = (3 x age in years) + 7
How much energy does a child expend per kg?
4 joules/kg
How do you work out tube diameter in a child?
4 + (age/4) mm
How much do you give as a fluid bolus normally and in trauma?
Normally = 20ml/kg trauma = 10ml/kg
Dose of adrenaline do you give to infants?
0.1 ml/kg of 1/10,000
Dose of glucose do you give to infants?
5ml/kg of 10% dextrose
