Embryology of the Foregut Flashcards
Where does the foregut begin and end?
(Mouth to major duodenal papilla)
[Oropharyngeal membrane to the liver bud]
Vasculature and innervation of the foregut?
Coeliac Trunk and Greater Splanchnic
What are the 2 mesenteries of the foregut?
Ventral and Dorsal
How does the foregut embryologically develop?
4 buds grow out of bowel wall into mesentery
(2 for biliary &liver, and fuse)
[2 separate (A&Post) form pancreas]
How does the liver embryologically move?
Rotates to the RHS to fit in abdomen
Why does a bare area form in the liver?
Stretches ventral mesentery as develops, with also hepatic duct and cystic join to make CBD
How does the pancreas move embryologically?
Anterior rotates around anticlockwise until lying on posterior lateral side of duodenum and then fuse together
Describe SMA positioning with pancreas
SMA runs behind dorsal pancreas, and runs in front of uncinate process due to its moving
Why doe stomach rotate when forming?
Liver form anteriorly, and spleen posteriorly which both move to RHS/LHS causing rotation
Which mesenteries do the liver and spleen and pancreas develop in?
Liver: Ventral
Spleen: Dorsal
Pancreas: Both before posterior rotation and fuse
How is the lesser sac created?
By the fixation of the GO and liver to posterior wall creating space behind stomach
How is greater curve of stomach formed?
Dorsal edge elongates
