Parentheses punctuation
A few rules:
• put final punctuation inside when he contain standalone sentences
Ex/
I love cinema. (But I don’t like blockbusters action movies.)
• when an explanation point or question mark appear in parentheses toward the end of a sentence, it does not replace the period after the closing parentheses.
Ex/
I love cinema (and I adore Casablanca!).
• when ending a sentence with an abbreviation we do not double the period. However, when the abbreviation is inside the parentheses, you need before and after the closing parentheses.
Ex/
There are several film genres I like l (comedy, sci-if, period dramas, etc.).
Introducing verticals lists punctuation
• when following a complete sentence use a colon.
• when following an incomplete sentence the colon is optional.
