Electrodermal Anatomy Flashcards
Electrodermal level (EDL)
tonic measure that indexes the baseline value; quantifies the average amplitude over a specified period of time
Electrodermal response (EDR)
a phasic measure that refers to change from baseline value; represents spontaneous or stimulus-elicited change in sweat gland activity.
What are the three electrodermal measures?
1) conductance
2) Resistance
3) skin potential
What electrodermal measures are done endosomatically?
Just skin potential
What electrodermal measures are done exosomatically?
Conductance and resistance
How are measurements taken exosomatically?
by passing an electric current through the skin.
How are measurements taken endosomatically?
by detecting voltage differences between two electrodes on the skin surface.
What is resistance?
(reciprocal of conductance and also called the galvanic skin response) it reflects opposition to external current movement and is measured as skin resistance level (SRL) and skin resistance response (SRR)
What is conductance?
indexes how easily an external current passes through the skin and is measured as skin conductance level (SCL) and skin conductance response (SCR).
How is skin potential measured?
is measured by skin potential level (SPL) and skin potential response (SPR)
Apocrine sweat glands usually open into ___
hair follicles
Apocrine sweat glands are mainly distributed where?
in armpits and genital region
Apocrine sweat glands usually produce ____
sweat odor
Distress can expel ___ from ____ of apocrine sweat glands
sweat from tubules
What sweat glands are responsible for electrodermal activity?
Eccrine sweat glands
