What is Bronchitis?
Narrows airways due to irritation and swelling. It is caused by nicotine.
What is Smoker’s Cough?
Cilia are damaged. Mucus builds up and bacteria can get to the lungs.
What is Emphysema?
Alveoli walls are broken down. Reduces surface area for gaseous exchange.
What is Carboxyhaemoglobin?
Carbon monoxide combines more readily with haemoglobin than oxygen. Less haemoglobin for oxygen to bind with.
What is COPD?
The collective term for lung issues.
Bronchitis and Emphysema.
Swelling, and damage caused by smoking.
List the Short-Term Effects of Smoking.
Bad Breath,
Loss of Taste.
Increased Heart Rate.
