Q

When did they enter again? What were the key features?

A

1923 - the French were met with passive resistance and this turned sour quickly as the Germans, egged on by Ebert, committed industrial sabotage and went on strike. More money had to be printed for the miners and inflation turned into hyperinflation as those with savings became penniless.

Q

Why did the Germans struggle to pay reparations?

A

They had to pay £100 million per year and could not afford to as they had lost much of their income from the loss of wealth-making industrial areas. The Weimar Republic had to resort to printing the French and Belgium, leading to the value of the mark dropping.
