Ecg Or Ekg Flashcards
Wandering baseline
Stylus gradually ships up and away from the center of the paper it’ll look like it’s tracing going up and down the hill
Usually caused because patients moving, could also be applied to tightly are loosely order the electrodes
Tremor or muscle artifact (somatic tremor)
Somatic tremor means muscle movement.
It will look like static electricity or very jagged mine.
This is caused by a cold, tens, uncomfortable patient. Parkinson disease gives these results trying to have them sit on their hands
Interrupted baseline
Occurs when an electrical connection has been interrupted. The stylus moves onto the margins of the paper a radically violently up and down across the paper
Patient movement made dislodge the electrodes causing the interruption
Powerline interference (alternating current interference)
This will be seen as a bold dark lines or series of uniform small spikes on the paper
It’s caused by poor wire, crossed wires, per the ground equipment, too many things plugged into one outlet, Maybe even overhead light.
If you need to unplug to fix the situation get permission from the doctor or nurse first
