What is the name of the cocks that isolate the primary safety apparatus equipment?
Red Emergency Circuit (EC)
Yellow TECHAV
When the Red EC cock is turned what happens?
The Red EC equipment (TECHAV) are isolated in the cab the cock is turned in
The Secondary Safety Equipment becomes active in that cab
What makes up the Secondary Safety Equipment?
Foot operated pilot valve
Emergency pilot valve
Emergency control governor
Control governor by-pass push button
What is the process when enabling the EC? (when isolating primary safety apparatus)
Secure the train
Turn the Red EC cock
Isolate the VICERS Key switch (to prevent VICERS acknowledge button from operating)
Set foot pilot valve
Press Red Control Governor Bypass switch on console.
What does the Control Governor bypass button do?
It will begin to flash after 30 seconds and requires pressing within 10 seconds, or emergency brake application will occur.
What does the yellow TECHAV Cock do?
it isolates the same equipment and allows the train to be driven from another cab.
If the yellow TECHAV Cock is turned, the RED EC needs to be reinstated to normal position
What must you do if you turn the Red EC Cock or the Yellow TECHAV Cock due to a fault?
A Fault Warning Notice must be installed into the two end cabs
