Hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia and acute renal dysfunction

Mostly cattle and animals but humans can too
How does E. Coli get transmitted?
Primarily through ingestion of feces-contaminated food and direct contact with animals and their environment but can also be from human to human
Who are at the greatest risk for HUS? (e.coli)
Children under 5 and the elderly population
What is a severe sx of E. Coli?
bloody stool
What is the incubation period for E. Coli?
2-10 days
How are E. Coli pts treated?
With dialysis and hospitalization and some with antibiotics
